Community Service and Involvement
Our Community:
An integral part of success is being involved in your own community and expanding your network. Connections reaches out to our community by raising funds to help support women in gaining the skills and education necessary to fulfill their potential. We also encourage our members to establish community affiliations and to volunteer within our organization to expand our ability to support women in business.
Re-entry Higher Education Scholarships:
Connections awards 2 re-entry scholarships for women attending Sonoma State University and Santa Rosa Junior College each year. Funds to support re-entry scholarships are raised at our fun meeting raffles and from direct member donations (which are tax deductible). Members bring raffle items to our network meetings and purchase raffle tickets (which are also tax deductible). By donating to the raffle, members are able to showcase their businesses. Since 1997, Connections has awarded over $30,000 in scholarship funds to 60 re-entry women in Sonoma County. Some scholarship recipients have gone on to become involved in their own business ventures and are members of Connections to this day!
Sloan House Women’s Shelter:
The Sloan House is a facility for low income single adult women and mothers with young children of all races and ethnicities who lack housing stability. Sloan House is a small, safe, home-like facility, with access to food, laundry, transportation, supportive and referral services. We donate goods and services to aid women who have made a commitment to move out of homelessness. Visit their website

Volunteer at Connections:
Are you looking to increase your visibility and credibility and grow your business? Are you looking for a way to make a difference and to learn more about yourself and expand your client and referral base?
Look no further! Connections is a non-profit organization that is almost exclusively operated and maintained by member volunteers. We have a board of directors, officers, committees, ambassadors, and lots of volunteers helping us run our organization. Volunteer participation can include meetings, fundraisers, social events, speakers, raffles, website, member communication, newsletter, articles, advertisements, member directory, promotions, and community affiliations. Being a Connections volunteer is a great way to develop your leadership skills, increasing your visibility within our organization, bolster your resume, and build your business. You can get involved as little or as much as you like.
Contact our President, Judith Wood at (707) 588-8833 or email her for more information about openings and ways you can get involved.
